About Millis

Millis Massachusetts is a suburban industrial town in the Charles River Valley and was incorporated in 1885. Two cotton mills were established there in 1805 and one of these mills is noteworthy because it is reputed to have installed the first lace loom in America in 1818.

In modern times all that remained of early industrial operations were Herman Shoes and the Cliquot Club ginger ale plant. Millis retains a significant number of bungalow style houses as well as some Greek revival and Italianate buildings.
